Dear Families,
We hope you enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend and managed to spend quality time with family and friends. It was lovely to see so many families at the Year 7 progress evening on Thursday for the B half of the year group. For those families whose child is in the A half, we look forward to seeing you in school next Thursday. Appointments can be made via the Bromcom app. Please get in touch if you have any issues making appointments with your child’s teachers.
Year 11 Exams
Year 11 students are settling well into their exams, working hard in lessons and engaging with the support offered by teachers. After the half term, we will introduce a phased reduction in timetables. This will provide students with bespoke support from subject specialists in school while acknowledging that many subjects will have concluded.
This will give students the option to revise either at school or at home. Before any student is allowed home, we will require parental consent to ensure you are aware of the safeguarding arrangements during school hours. We will share further details with students in assembly next week, and I will also provide more information via the newsletter.
Student Authors
We are excited to share that another book of students’ work has been published, titled ‘Stranger Sagas’. This project, led by Ms. Peck, was designed to inspire and encourage creative writing. It is wonderful to see so many students becoming published authors. Well done to everyone who participated!
SAS Update
Our Social Action Squad continues to support our local community. This week they visited the Beeches Care Home to meet and talk with residents. Our students always have a fantastic experience during these visits, and we hope their presence brings joy to those cared for there.
Year 10 Work Experience
This is a gentle reminder that Year 10 students will be on work experience from 6th – 10th July. It is important that students seek opportunities in a field they are interested in. Where possible, we will support students in finding a placement. This is a great opportunity to explore the world of work and understand what is required to succeed in a chosen career path.
Calendar Photography Competition
Well done to all students who participated in our photography competition. The results for March have been confirmed:
- 3rd Place: Leland (Foggy Morning)

- 2nd Place: Kyanne (Beautiful Blooms)

- 1st Place: Tyreece (Colour Town)

Winners for April will be announced very soon!
Uniform
We would like to inform you that students will no longer be expected to wear blazers from Monday, 11th May. While we typically allow this as the weather warms up, following a policy change for September, we have decided to make blazers optional for the remainder of the term.
Staff will continue to ensure high standards of uniform, including correctly worn ties (four full stripes) and tucked-in shirts. Please be reminded that leggings are not permitted. We know this is a welcome change, and we appreciate your support in ensuring students continue to look smart and represent Rushden Academy positively.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing all students on Monday morning.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. J. Firth
Principal
