I am delighted to welcome you to our rapidly improving school, Rushden Academy. We are part of a highly successful trust called Tove Learning Trust (TLT) and have excellent collaborative networks across the trust. Staff really enjoy working at Rushden Academy and our high staff retention figures demonstrate this fully.

Team Rushden are on the cusp of something great, our results are rapidly improving and our intake numbers are increasing. Visitors are impressed when they visit our school commenting on the strong Team Rushden values permeating across all aspects of school life. We have built a culture where together, students and staff are united in transforming our school.

We are proud of our achievements to date and regularly communicate this widely. There is a strong drive to excel in lessons and to behave respectfully towards each other and our community. We are proud of the curriculum that we have on offer, not only does it deliver the content pupils need to excel in today’s society but it also develops their imaginations.

Our sixth form provision, The East Northamptonshire College (TENC), is shared with two local secondary schools, sharing our expertise not only at KS5 but also at KS4 with cross moderation and quality assurance systems. We also have an outstanding nursery onsite, which is open term-time only and many of our staff use this excellent provision for their children.

The exam period is now in full swing, so far the pupils have conducted themselves impeccably. The months of hard work should pay off and our pupils should reap the rewards on exam results day. They have to be the best and yet the most nerve-wracking days of the school year, Thursday 16th August for A level results and Thursday 23rd August for GCSE results. Our y11 Sport and Leisure pupils gained great results this week fueling them to complete their coursework, last night many were still here working until 8pm, thank you to Team Rushden once again for making this happen.

During half term there will be opportunities for year 11 to attend school and work with teachers, watch out for the programme later. Remember to continue with GCSE pod and use your revision guides. Also later in this bulletin you will find the year 10 mock exam timetable, this follows swiftly on from the real GCSEs as the exam hall will be all set up with desks and chairs. Year 10 should be preparing for these exams now, asking teachers for advice, planning your revision programme and making revision notes. I don’t think you can beat practicing exam questions though and reading the mark schemes from the exam board websites.

Well we did indeed see some sunshine over the bank holiday weekend and although the weather has not been quite as warm it has still be good enough to open the school field. It has always amazed me to see so many of our students play football, it really is a sight to behold.

We must however insist that our students do respect our rules of not leaving litter, not only could this could be a health and safety issue but also it is incredibly unsightly. There is no excuse, the student forum asked for bigger bins we bought bigger bins and more of them, so it really is not acceptable to litter the environment.
