Pupil Expectations

Pupil Expectations

January 2021 Pupil STRICT Covid 19 EXPECTATIONS to Reduce Transmission

Attending school:

  • If you display any of the symptoms (a high temperature, a new and continuous cough, loss of smell or taste), please do not come into school.
  • If you are unable to attend school, please telephone school to let us know.
  • All pupils to wear their school uniform in-line with school policy, and bring own equipment, reading book, food and refreshments
  • Everyone is encouraged to walk or bike to school.
  • Pupils should arrive at school no more than 5 minutes before their allocated start time. It is vital that pupils are punctual and arrive to school on time
  • All to sanitise their hands on entering the Main Reception
  • Pupils will sign in at the Main Reception where LFT consent forms will be checked & checks made regarding the frequency of testing.
  • Staff will check that pupils have their face masks, these can be purchased at both receptions.
  • Facemasks and coverings are to be worn in communal areas including reception, corridors, toilets & the canteen.
  • Pupils will stay within their allocated groups, classrooms and remain in their allocated area of school.
  • Pupils to avoid touching walls, doors, and any surfaces where possible.
  • No parents/carers or visitors allowed on site unless by prior appointment.

Lateral Flow Testing:

  • Pupils to ensure their consent forms are completed.
  • Pupils to be tested twice upon return (these may increase to regular weekly testing- awaiting gov guidance).
  • Pupils to follow all Health & Safety protocols when in the Testing Centre to protect themselves and others.
  • Results will be shared with parents for those 15 years and younger, results shared with 16+ direct to pupil.
  • For those testing positive will be expected to isolate and leave the site for home.

Classrooms and year zones:

  • Everyone must always be mindful of social distancing.
  • Pupils must sanitise their hands on entering and leaving school & on entering and leaving classrooms
  • Staff will open windows and wedge open doors other than fire doors to allow as much natural ventilation as possible (weather permitting.)
  • Pupils will stick to the teacher's seating plan.
  • Pupils will use their own resources - pen, pencil, ruler, calculator and reading book. No personal equipment and resources are to be shared as this has the potential to increase the risk of contamination.
  • Pupils will take full responsibility for their exercise books, and ensure they are prepared for each lesson. Exercise books will remain in their possession and not left in classrooms.
  • Pupils will distribute resources used in lessons.
  • Pupils will be required to sanitise their desk area and chair.
  • Pupils will enter and leave by an external classroom door wherever possible under the direction of staff.
  • Pupils are to act responsibly always and not behave in ways that compromise the health and safety of others. This is especially the case on stairwells and in corridors.
  • We expect everyone to follow instructions and not put anyone at risk, if problems arise pupils will be removed from the lesson & with repeated issues, their behaviour will be considered as a serious breach of the schools’ Behaviour and Exclusion Policy.
  • Anyone experiencing symptoms must ask to leave the classroom and go to the student services medical room.

Other matters:

  • Staff will check the seating plan and take a register.
  • All must frequently wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds and dry thoroughly.
  • Use a tissue or elbow to cough or sneeze and use bins for tissue waste (‘catch it, bin it, kill it’)
  • Try to avoid touching your mouth, eyes, and nose.
  • Pupils bring in their own water as the water fountains are currently out of use.
  • Hand-dryers are marked out of use.
  • Normal fire evacuation procedures will be followed, we will congregate behind Creative Arts and Tennis Courts.

Leaving school:

  • Please take away all belongings.
  • Exit the school via the Main Reception Area

I have read and understood the expectations to minimise contamination
