On Monday 15th July, Northamptonshire Police visited the school as part of a community safety drive and to also raise awareness of the seriousness of drugs. The police team also included an experienced drugs dog and police handler. The dog and its handler introduced themselves to a number of classrooms highlighting key points regarding drug use and cannabis possession. It was positive to see so many pupils engaging with the questions posed by the Police handler in particular about cannabis being illegal and it now being classified as a Class B drug. The Police were also able to explain the position of the law and that anyone found in possession of drugs would face arrest. The visit dispelled lots of myths often generated by gangs to entice young people into drug criminality especially around the idea that if you get caught the Police will only caution you so don't worry. This safeguarding message was strong and clear in that there is no place for drugs in schools. It is also positive to report that no drugs were located in the school or on any person.

We look forward to any future visits and continuing our work in preventing as far as possible that drugs do not impact on the safety of our pupils.
