They Ran, They Jumped, They Threw

Wednesday saw the PE Department host the annual Rushden Academy Sports Day, with all students in years 7-10 involved in an extravaganza of track and field athletics, Tug 'O' War, Nukem and Petanque. Students ran, threw, jumped, pulled and bowled in a total of 86 separate events with a number of students writing themselves a chapter of Sports Day history as they broke records, including 2 long jump records, 100m and discus.

This year saw the highest participation rate, with each event hotly contested as forms competed to be Sports Day Champions 2019. 10 points was the largest winning margin as the high participation rates saw 4 extremely close competitions in each year group. Mr Street read out the winning teams at the end of a long day of competitive action and memorable moments with Petanque results the deciding factor in each year group.

Congratulations to the winners in each event and to each and every student who took part with enthusiasm, effort and enjoyment and our thanks to all of the staff who contributed to making the day such a success.

Well done to the following forms who won their respective team competitions to be crowned Sports Day Champions:

Year 7: EJA

Year 8: LMC

Year 9: GBO

Year 10: CW
