A busy and fun term in science with lots going on. Below is just a small selection of some of the activities student’s have enjoyed.

Some year 7’s have been learning about energy transfers including the energy stored in food.

sc1

Mr Dunn’s year 8’s have been outside counting daisies to learn what biotic and abiotic factors affect plant distribution.

Mr Brainwood’s class have learnt about convection currents and heat transfer.

sci2

Miss Wiles’s 3 year 9 classes have done heart dissections to locate the 4 chambers of the heart, the valves between them, and study up close the difference in thickness between the left hand and right hand side of the heart.

sci3

Miss Jepson’s year 11 were completing their last required practical learning how to create potable (safe) water from sea water.

sci4

As you can see it has been a busy term. Please continue to support us in getting your children to learn the Throwback Thursday words – we are already seeing a positive impact.

Year 11 parents – please check parent mail to see if your child has been invited to an Easter intervention on either the 16th or 17th of April. All year 11’s have also been given 3 papers to practice over the Easter holiday.

Mrs C Wiles
