The new academic year was kick-started with our already established Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) welcoming  a number of new, keen year 7 parents to further develop the good practice involvement of the wider school community in our strive towards excellence.

The group is an open forum, with new parents and carers welcomed at any point throughout the year. Our aim for this academic year is to fund-raise for the Performing Arts Department to help raise money for The Addams Family production in the summer term. If this is something that would interest you then let us know.

With the above in mind, we will be organising a Beatle Drive with a ‘spook night’ festive theme on Friday 23rd November from 6 to 8.30pm. Tickets for adults will be £3 and for children and young people, only £1. Please save your Halloween clothes as we will have a prize for the best fancy dress! The idea of a Beatle Drive is built on the back of our successful Easter Bingo Evening, which we will repeat next year, as feedback on the night was that it would be a fun and bonding experience for all, as well as a good fund-raiser.

Some sad news, there will be no Christmas Emporium this year, although the previous events have been successful fund-raisers for our school, market traders were barely covering their costs, the impact of Rushden Lakes and more choice for local shoppers having an effect on local craft providers.

On a lighter note, we’ve just confirmed a date for our ‘Santa Sleigh’ charity fund-raising evening, which will be Wednesday 12th December. We are always keen to recruit families to take part in this fast-paced event in Stanwick village. It really is a fun evening with a tremendous team spirit…and the chance to see Mr Blackshaw, from science, dressed as Santa!

Just to let you know, the PTFA will have a presence at our forthcoming Open Evening on Monday 8th October, if you’re keen to be involved in this and to promote our school to prospective parents or you are interested in our other activities then drop me a line on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Lastly, we are constantly on the look-out for raffle, hamper and non-perishable donations to help raise funds at our events. If you feel you can’t get involved in meetings but you can access resources to donate, whether it be via a company you work for or just unwanted gifts then please send in and leave at student reception.

Next PTFA meeting: Thursday 8th November, 6pm
