In year 7 and 8 we get students ready to move up to the challenges of GCSE. The course we run is approved by AQA and is designed to prepare students by creating firm foundations in the core areas that the GCSE will draw upon.  There are a large number of practical elements also introduced.

Topic Titles are the same in year 7 and 8, but the complexity and content in these themes changes from year 7 to year 8.

Supporting your Child

Science is about the confidence to try and fail, about making a decision or prediction based on an idea. Support us by helping to instil in your child that the only thing that ever matters in a science lesson is that the effort is more important than the amount of things you can get right.

Students will be supported with revision materials when they are needed, and the homework’s that are set.

Please support us by talking to your child about what they did in science this week, allow them to spread their understandings and grow their confidence.

Supporting your Child

PC and Internet access is very useful. All of the free educational programs we use are Windows-based; there are Apple Mac versions of most, but they tend not to be compatible if students want to bring work to college. Homework is often set as part of the IT and Computing curriculum and can often be research based and forms an important part of the learning in the lesson.
