KS3 history students begin their studies by developing some of the key skills which underpin the subject such as using evidence and developing a sense of chronology. All students are then prepared to embark on their journey throughout the History of Britain. Topics include the Norman invasion in 1066, Castles, and Life in Medieval Britain. This allows students to develop their skills of change and continuity, cause and consequence and the use of historical evidence. In year 8, topics include the Industrial Revolution, Jack the Ripper and Victorian London, and the outbreak of World War I and II. We consider the horrific conditions endured by all sides in trench warfare, whilst developing key historical skills including source analysis, change and continuity, and significance and interpretations. These skills form the foundation of GCSE History.
