I hope that you have had a good week, we have, but I am not convinced that we will be able to demonstrate just how busy it has been in this edition!

To start the week we had our final year 6 into y7 day. Our Year 7 helpers and student librarians were a real credit to the school. So thank you. The new year 7s were STAR tested ready for September and every class were very well-behaved and impressed their new teachers, so a great start.

Mrs Brainwood informs me that the MFL students in Year 8 have received back their letters from the tourist information offices in major towns in France and will be preparing their presentations. Mrs Brainwood has released details of two brand new exciting trips for pupils currently in Year 7. Please see Mrs Brainwood for more details about this.

We have had a successful Geography field trip out this week. Our year 9’s had an enterprise day on Tuesday, the guest speakers commented how well behaved the year group were and how well they participated in the events.

We have had the A level and GCSE Art Review, which will remain in the vocational area until next Thursday. Their work was stunning, I am always in awe of such talents.

The DofE trip was successful and all pupils being assessed have passed! Passers-by complimented our pupils on their manners and attitude too. They cost nothing and yet mean everything!

The rewards trips went well and everyone came back safe and sound, albeit a little bruised from Skirmish.

Today we are competing against local schools in a Dragons Enterprise event. We wish them well, no pressure but we did achieve first place last year!

Next week is another exciting week at Rushden Academy, we have a film crew in for a couple of days filming the good work we do here. Secondly the Grease production is ready to go, I hope you have your tickets, it looks and sounds amazing!

Finally, we will be closing at 2pm on Friday and waving our pupils off for a safe and happy summer. It has been memorable year, the school is no longer in special measures and we have secured an excellent trust to work with. Without your support, without the team effort from our pupils, staff and all stakeholders we could not make it the school it is today! So thank you for getting your sons/daughters up every morning and being Team ready! Have a wonderful summer and I very much look forward to greeting everyone back in September in full school uniform.

Mrs J Burton
