Well we did indeed see some sunshine over the bank holiday weekend and although the weather has not been quite as warm it has still be good enough to open the school field. It has always amazed me to see so many of our students play football, it really is a sight to behold.

We must however insist that our students do respect our rules of not leaving litter, not only could this could be a health and safety issue but also it is incredibly unsightly. There is no excuse, the student forum asked for bigger bins we bought bigger bins and more of them, so it really is not acceptable to litter the environment.

In the next few weeks we are looking at further improving our environment, rebranding the school with the Tove Learning Trust and carefully considering how we bring our subject areas to life. I am absolutely determined to create the best learning environment for the team, so if anyone has an artistic flair and can offer some advice I would love to talk to you. We are looking at how vinyl prints can transform the school, the brochures look amazing.

Year 10 parents evening went very well, good to see so many of you tonight. I hope the advice was helpful in preparing your son/daughter for their mock exams in June. They must be revising now and creating revision material. Many of the subjects now do not have any coursework element nor do they have module exams, instead everything boils down to the end of year 11 exams where they have to revise 2-3 years’ worth of work, very challenging. So absolutely essential that they get into good working habits now, what I call power hours every night where they focus on learning material and applying this to exam material.

Year 11 have been preparing well, it is good to hear that they are working hard at home too. I would like to see the revision guides that we purchased being used at breaks and lunchtimes and student using flash cards to test each other. The exam period starts Monday 14th and I would like to wish our year 11s every success, they deserve to do well. Miss Burrows bought lots of revision cards from Wilkinsons recently, £1 for a ring of cards, a real hit with her y10 pupils.

We have some absolutely wonderful pupils in the team, I am really proud to be at this school and welcome you to visit us soon. Maybe at the Talent show, I heard a whisper that there is a staff entry!

Have a good weekend and thank you so much for supporting us.
