Yet another exciting week at Rushden Academy. Year 11 ‘Real GCSE’ exams have started kicking in with preparations underway for Drama and Art. Everything appears to be going to plan; staff and pupils are busy and there is a real sense of determination amongst Team Rushden.

Today we have 12 hours of sport taking place, over 70 pupils paid £20 each to participate in sport all day, madness, but a fantastic effort for charity. Today we also had a volcano extravaganza in Humanities. I am sure that you will see some photos at some point, but I did want to share this photo of some volcano cake that appeared on my desk today from two y7 pupils.

We also had our first teach meet lunch for staff today, such a buzz of ideas, I am really looking forward to lesson dipping next week and seeing some ideas in action. The learning for Life day went very well too.

However, this week has had its challenges and I have had to make some serious decisions in terms of pupil exclusions. Team Rushden has a clear behaviour policy and if there is ever a serious breach of our expectations I will act. My aim is for staff and pupils to feel safe and happy at this academy and I, with my team, will continue to ensure this is always the case.

Have a good weekend
