As this term draws to a close, it is a good opportunity to reflect and consider how far we have come this term. The site is steadily improving, the walkways are looking good and the plans to move reception to the vocational area should be completed by the end of February. Teaching and learning has significantly improved, the pupils are engaged in their lessons and I am pleased to see improved assessment data. The school is calm, happy and there are a lot of exciting events occurring weekly.

This week our pupils presented their ‘Add Me’ performance at the Deco Theatre in Northampton to an audience of 500, they were brilliant. The performing arts team also presented another showcase to a packed audience in the theatre here, another great success with some stunning performances.

Some of our pupils and staff are in Berlin and I hear almost hourly how it is going - Mrs Johnson has commented that the pupils are representing Team Rushden perfectly, what a great experience. We also welcome the London trip back today so watch out for an update on this.

This week we have recruited some outstanding teachers in history, geography and drama, they were highly professional and passionate about our vision and Team Rushden values. They commented on how warm and caring our school was and they are very eager to contribute to our improving journey.

Year 8 parents’ evening last night had a fantastic turn-out, the Team Rushden pupil helpers did a cracking job; they are such ambassadors of the school. The parent responses were so good, thank you for all the positive comments and feedback. Team Rushden, all our staff and pupils are determined to be the best we can, and we are always keen to hear how we can improve further.

Everyday next week there are year 11 intervention classes taking place, thank you to the staff who have kindly offered to deliver these sessions. Please remember to access school by the Spencer Road entrance, pupils must register with their teachers. Remember that the site is being improved throughout the week, so do please take care if you do come on site.

Enjoy your family time, and I look forward to seeing Team Rushden dressed smart and thinking smart in a week’s time!

Mrs J Burton

Principal
