Assemblies this week have been about what it means to belong to a team, valuing differences between people because we all have different skills, no-one has a perfect set of skills and it’s important to have a range of skills; to know the rules, the Team Rushden expectations, Ready to Present, uniform expectations and then knowing the goals: good behaviour so we can LEARN, good teaching so we can LEARN, achieve great GCSE results, participate in outstanding physical and dramatic events, compete and win competitions and go on fabulous extra-curricular trips.

Thank you to parents who were able to attend the The Tove Trust presentation on Tuesday evening, there is a presentation available for parents that could not make it and if you have any questions please do make contact us. Their straight talking approach and wealth of experience stands Rushden Academy in good stead. As you are aware from recent Ofsted monitoring visits we are on track and making significant improvements. Once we join with Tove Trust it will be business as usual for us but with the added luxury of getting sound advice, support, challenge and resources. Team Rushden have made major improvements but we must continue to grow; already outstanding Tove Math’s and Science specialists have visited and will be continuing to link with us to add capacity.

Great news that our trainee teachers are loving Team Rushden and working at Rushden Academy, and absolutely why not. We also have such a unique selling point with the onsite nursery, as a parent myself it is good to have the security of knowing your own children are safe on site too.

Tonight was buzzing at school with Y11 parents evening, pupils have excelled in their mock exams and teachers have worked incredibly hard to ensure our pupils improve even further. They issued 2 improvement comments, they have offered even more period 6 time and February and Easter interventions. I am sure Mr Middleton will be giving us feedback from parents later in the bulletin, but from conversations tonight parents were incredibly positive about the work we are doing to repair and transform the school. The student helpers were once again so supportive and watered the staff all evening, a real credit to the team.

As always if ever you have any concerns, queries or just want to visit and see with your own eyes what we are doing please contact school and book an appointment with me. Team Rushden are so proud of what is being achieved, also don’t forget to look out for the Team Rushden signed plaque next time you visit.
