We are making a few changes to improve site safety and the overall impression of our school. This will be happening over the next few weeks and here are a few things to look out for.

There is an exam board outside the main hall to inform our students of forthcoming examinations, expectations and other important information. Seating plans for the Y11 mock exams will be the first to be displayed along with all the strict protocols that must be adhered to. Mrs Chambers will keep the exam board updated.

The Chichele Suite will become the sixth form area and the room within the suite will become the sixth form office. The sixth form area (Vocational Building) will be used for master classes, quiet areas for exams and there will be a separate meeting room available. The aim is to have this up and running at the start of December before the Y11 exams start so that our sixth form have their own seating area.

Once we complete the site tenders, the site will be further secured with a length of fencing running down the drive to the Voc Centre. The paths and walking areas, especially where the slabs are, will be improved. It is a very exciting time for us and if you have any bright ideas do please share. I am looking forward to hearing what the pupil forum come up with, they usually have really sensible ideas.

On a different note, we appointed a Head of English today who will bring to Team Rushden a wealth of experience and sound training to improve standards in English. All three candidates had something unique to offer and absolutely loved the school. They praised the pupils and staff and said that it had such a good feel. We were very proud to hear such wonderful comments, they really wanted to be part of Team Rushden and I thought you should hear this. Nationally there is an issue with teacher recruitment and there is a massive shortage in most subjects now, so it is crucial that we attract good staff for our pupils and retain them too.

Today Team Rushden collectively will be remembering all the men and women who have lain down their lives and honoring them during an outdoor service at 10.35am. Readings will be shared to all year groups by John McCrae, KC Tomlin, Kieran Edwards, Joanna Liptrot, and Head Boy Haydn Carter and Deputy Head Boy Thuso Ngwenya.

Wishing you a peaceful weekend.
